Applied Forensic Engineering, LLC (AFE) can provide a full range of fire investigation services including fire scene processing, evidence collection and storage, photographic and video documentation, as well as accurate and thorough reports delivered to you in a prompt and efficient manner. We will address issues of burn patterns and sequence, as well as chemicals that may have contributed to the event, to accurately determine the fire/explosion cause.

The complex task of uncovering the origin and cause of a fire or explosion can be performed only by highly trained and experienced professionals in the field. Often the investigator is faced with what appears to be nothing more than a charred pile of lumber from a residential fire or the twisted ruins of refinery piping.

It is our belief that sound methodology results in a solid determination of cause, one that will withstand the rigors of litigation. This can only occur when the investigation is conducted utilizing a sound scientific approach such as described in NFPA 921. Our goal is to provide an objective, scientific investigation, complete with evidence preservation, documentation, and solid conclusions.

Whether the goal is to determine the exact origin and cause of an accidental fire/explosion, exploring a potentially incendiary type fire or identifying subrogation causes, AFE’s investigators can deliver. Our investigators are also engineers who can provide technical answers in addition to the basic fire investigation.

Often, demand letters and notification of claimed liability surface after the scene has been cleaned and the evidence processed and removed. AFE can assess the raw data, examine the photographs, review the documentation and conduct independent verification and testing. The result is an objective view of the facts and an independent conclusion. Whether it’s a simple or complex incident, additional review and investigation can identify evidence or facts that were unknown and/or not considered in original conclusions .
